ballroom classes
Beginning Ballroom: Learn to dance the fox trot, tango and waltz, plus several other classic moves--these are the dances you need to know, along with Swing, to dance elegantly in almost any situation. In this class, you will also learn good technique and partnering skills. We’ll cover approximately 4-6 figures from the dances listed above. Even more importantly, we'll use those figures as the context in which you’ll learn a high level of Leading and Following skills —that’s where the real magic of partner dancing is found.
Each week, your instructor will continue to build on and review what you’ve already learned. This method punches up the learning process and will help you build skills more quickly than in comparable classes at other studios.
And as an added bonus, your instructor will provide you with a CD of music used in class and several class videos which you can access online in order to assist you with practice between classes.
Continuing Ballroom: More foxtrot, waltz and tango. We'll continue where we left off in the Beginning Ballroom class, with some of the showiest 2nd-level moves available in these three dances. For a few examples, in Foxtrot we'll learn a Backwards Basic, the Feather Diagonals, the Traveling Crossovers (aka Butterflies), Twinkles, and a Promenade Pivot Turn. In Waltz, we'll borrow and adapt many of these new Foxtrot steps — they look great in Waltz, and some of them actually originated in Waltz and were adapted to Foxtrot. As time allows, we’ll continue to build on each of these dances and use them as a platform for improving our leading and following technique –that’s where you’ll find that you are truly dancing with confidence.
