ballet / tap / jazz

PreBallet/Tap (ages 4-5). This class introduces beginning ballet technique, vocabulary and choreography with a creative and playful approach. Children learn the structure of dance class and are taught proper technique using creative imagery though movement. Each class will devote the final 20 minutes to beginning tap, helping children learn rhythm combinations, timing and beginning tap technique in this upbeat dance class. Attire: Leotard, pink or white tights and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be secured away from the face and off the neck.

Ballet/Tap I (ages 5-6). This class continues where PreBallet/Tap ends. Ballet and tap techniques will be introduced through the use of creative activities, but students will work at a faster pace and learn more challenging material than in PreBallet/Tap. Class will begin to take on an advanced structure, while maintaining a fun atmosphere. This class is perfect for children who are ready to move up from PreBallet/tap, or who want a challenging, fast-moving class. Attire: Leotard, pink or white tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be secured away from the face and off the neck.

Ballet I - IV (ages 5 and up). These classes emphasize proper ballet technique and body placement. Barre exercises develop strength and flexibility, while centre work allows the student to practice classic dance principles. Students who are serious about improving as dancers will find that ballet classes are an important foundation for their dance training. Attire: Leotard, pink or white tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be secured away from the face and off the neck.

Pop Jam - Ballet (ages 9-13). This ballet class emphasizes all of the principles of a ballet class, yet with a hip flare. Students will dance to pop music while learning combinations that emphasize ballet, along with elements of jazz technique as well. This class is perfect for students who want to continue their ballet training incorporating the energy of the hottest music made by today's artists. Bring your i-pod, your playlist might be up next!

jazz classes

For children ages 5 and up. Students will learn the basics of jazz technique, set to fun and energetic music. While its basis lies in ballet technique, jazz dance allows for more expressive and stylistic movement. Attire: Leotard or unitard, black shorts or jazz pants and black jazz shoes. Hair should be secured away from the face.

Pop Music Jam I - III (ages 6-10). This energetic class combines jazz and hip hop styles with music made popular with the “tweens” by artists such as Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers and more. This is a great starting point for students who are interested in exploring more energetic, up-tempo dance styles. Attire: Loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants or shorts, t-shirt or tank top, and clean gym shoes that have not been worn outside the studio.
